President Trump’s Supreme Court nomination this week presents a clear choice for voters. Do we want our Congressman to help President Trump seat judges who respect the U.S. Constitution? Or do we want to send reinforcements to Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer as they obstruct the President and press for an even more activist judiciary?
Pelosi is promising to “make Republicans pay for the Supreme Court seat they stole from President Obama.” She claims that judges who faithfully follow the Constitution will “radically reverse the course of American justice and democracy.”
In Washington, Joseph Kopser would join Team Pelosi-Schumer, and press for liberal activist judges in the mold of Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Stephen Breyer.
Let’s be clear. While the U.S. House doesn’t vote on judicial nominations, all members of Congress play an important role in setting checks and balances on the other branches of government, and in driving the narrative about proper role of the courts.
Is this what we want in our Congressman? Someone who believes judges should legislate our God-given rights and liberties from the bench instead of being oath-bound to faithfully defend them?
For decades, progressives have used the courts and unelected judges to impose their left-wing policies on the American people. The results have been nothing less than an undemocratic full frontal assault on the freedoms that millions of Americans have fought, bled, and died to defend.
Liberal judges have repeatedly infringed on the First Amendment to punish Christians and others for living out their faith in the public square, attempted to disarm law-abiding citizens in order to undermine the Second Amendment, and flagrantly ignored the Tenth Amendment to redefine marriage and impose big-government healthcare mandates on every American.
If freedom is to be preserved for future generations, this has to stop.
The people of the 21st District of Texas deserve a Congressman who understands that our rights are inalienable because they come from God and that no judge has the authority to diminish or strip them away from us. Furthermore, the good people of the 21st District deserve a Congressman who also is committed to serving as a check on rogue judges and courts who continue to try to implement their liberal vision from the bench.
We need a Congressman who will support and defend judges who faithfully follow the Constitution and forcefully challenge those who dare attempt to do otherwise.
